When auspicious Choghadiyas coincide with Rahu Kaal

Shadow planet Rahu is the most powerful and malefic. Rahu Kaal is often referred to as poison or dangerous time during both day and night. When the Rahu Kaal overlaps a good Choghadiya, it must be avoided for any auspicious activities. Regardless of the promising nature of the excellent Choghadiya, planet Rahu’s attributes will rule the time period making it highly dangerous for any action. Find Aaj Ka Rahu Kaal.

When auspicious Choghadiyas coincide with inauspicious ones (Vaar Vela, Kaal Vela, or Kaal Ratri)

Suppose a good Choghadiya is overlapping with an inauspicious Choghadiyas like Vaar Vela, Kaal Vela, or Kaal Ratri. In that muhurta or time period should be avoided due to the influence of the malefic planet. They tend to overpower the good Choghadiya.

What is Choghadiya?

Choghadiya is an Indian astrology based Muhurat or auspicious time guide. In Vedic astrology, time and space/energy are two important things that rule every particle in the microcosmos. The time factor highly influences the very experience of life, success, and other happier incidents. Some periods are beneficial, and some as malefic. Choghadiya speaks about these time periods and their attributes. While Panchang talks about intricate details about the spiritual bodies in the cosmic space, Choghadiya shows the simple surface-level picture of time periods and their association with planets for a given day. There are two types of Choghadiya shown below.

Day choghadiya (din ka choghadiya) for days of the week assuming sunrise to be at 6:00 AM.

Night choghadiya (raat ka choghadiya) for days of the week assuming sunset to be at 6:00 PM.

The Vaar Lord rules the first Choghadiya of each weekday-vara. For example, on a Sunday, the first Choghadiya is ruled by Sun-Udveg and followed in the order Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars. The last Choghadiya of the day(Sunset) is also ruled by the lord of the day- Udveg in this example.

The occurrence of Choghadiyas varies for each weekday. i.e., the sequence of Monday is different from Tuesday. However, the order of the Choghadiyas remains the same. But the sequence for every Monday is the same, as it is for each weekday.

Ruling planet of the day:

  • Sunday - Sun
  • Monday - Moon
  • Tuesday - Mars
  • Wednesday - Mercury
  • Thursday - Jupiter
  • Friday - Venus
  • Saturday - Saturn

Based on the sunrise and sunset, Choghadiyas are classified into day and night Choghadiyas.

How Today Shubh Muhurat or Aaj ka Choghadiya is Calculated?

1 Ghadi is equal to a period of 24 minutes. For instance, the sunrise on day 1 is at 6.00 AM and Sunset is at 6.00 PM, followed by sunrise on the next day at 6.30 AM.
Vedic daytime is of approximately 710-740 minutes, and night is of 720-740 minutes,
Each day Choghadiya lasts about 90 minutes, 710/8 = 88.75 minutes = 1 hour 28 minutes 45 seconds.
each night Choghadia's last 740/8 = 92.5 minutes = 1 hour 32 minutes and 30 seconds.
All of these parts are mostly equal in duration. At the same time, it is significantly dependant on the location. In certain places, days are longer, and nights are shorter or vice versa.

What is Vaar Vela, Kaal Vela, and Kaal Ratri

Vaar Vela and Kaal Vela time periods of the day and Kaal Ratri of the night are considered highly inauspicious.
Vaar Vela occurs in all Choghadiyas, and Kaal vela is the Kaal time period ruled by Saturn.
Kaal Ratri is the Laabh Choghadiya ruled by mercury, and this nighttime period is considered inauspicious.
