Independence Day Of America
American Independence Day or the Fourth of July commemorates the ‘Declaration of Independence of the United States’ from the Monarch of Britain, on July 4, 1776. The British Empire colonized Virginia’s Jamestown in 1607 making this Virginia its first ever permanent American colony. Gradually extended Great British empire to 13 colonies. All the 13 colonies were subjected to British laws and the laws levied high duties for the import of essential goods like sugar, coffee, tea, and spirits. This high tax scenario unfolded a scenario of exponentially increasing dissatisfaction between the colonies and the British crown. This led to the historical event in June 1776, a group called the Colonies; Second Continental Congress came together in Philadelphia to draft a document to cut ties with monarch King George III of Great Britain and announce their 13 colonies as free, united, and independent states. Members of the Continental Congress appointed the Committee of Five - John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson to draft and declare that the 13 American colonies are no longer part of the British empire or subjects to the king.
