Shadasheeti Punyakalam is observed on the Kanya Sankranti. This festival is observed in Kerala. Lord Shiva is worshipped in this punyakala. This is an ideal time to worship Siddhas, Lord Shiva and other popular Saivite saints. Here are the rituals to follow during this punyakala.

Dhanam or Donations to Sath Pathrams - Good Vedic Scholars: this will bestow multifold blessings on three generations. 

Gho Dhanam - Donating Cow on this day to temples and mutts is equivalent to donating thousand Gho.

Bhoo Dhanam - donating a piece of Land to temples or ashrams on this day triples the blessings.

Gruha Dhanam - donating groceries for one full year to ashrams or charity organisations bestows attaining Kailasha.

Sethu Snanam - bathing in Rameswara theertha/ ocean on this day ensures that there is no Garbavasam -rebirth.

On this day performing donations and charity in Rameshwaram and Dhanushkoti is equivalent to living and doing service in the Punya Kshethras like Madhyarjunam, Tirumalai, Dakshina Kailasam. It also blesses good children.

Worshipping Siddhas and Lord Shiva on this day helps us get rid of Pancha Maha Papas (Sins).

Tarpanam and Shraddh rituals performed on this day is as powerful as Pitru Paksha fortnight rituals.

Padhuka, Pathram, and Pushpam. This will give us the benefit of doing many Soma Yagnam’s.

We can chant Purusha Suktham, Sri Rudram, Chamakam and offer milk, curd for abishekam- hydration ceremony.
