The Beginning Of Autumn

Traditional Chinese calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms based on the position of the Sun in the sky. Start of Autumn or Beginning of Autumn- Chinese: 立秋, is the 13th solar term that begins this year on Aug 8 and ends on Aug 23. Each solar term lasts for about 15 days and carried information on local weather condition, wildlife, and surrounding environment. Ancient Chinese calendar used only four solar terms, with the advancements in Astronomy and knowledge on planets, around the time 104 BC, the 24 solar terms were introduced in the calendar.

The Beginning Of Autumn 2023

Beginning of Autumn marks the approach of fruitful season. Chinese calendar is so detailed in nature that each solar term guide people’s lifestyle, food, health, and cultural ceremonies. Although Autumn season begins, the hot weather does not instantly end. The heat lasts for about 30days into the Autumn season and this period is called "Autumn Tiger" or "Indian Summer."
