Calculation

Sashtiamsa is 1/60th division of a sign; each Sashtiamsa is of 0degrees, 30’ minutes. Each Sashtiamsa is assigned to a deity. Based on the nature of the deity/demigod assigned, there are Shuba Sashtiamsa and Kroora Sashtiamsas. Planets in Shuba Sashtiamsa give good results, and planets in kroora Sashtiamsa give malefic results. Madhya Sashtiamsas provide moderate results. The nomenclature of the deities is devised by Rishi Parasara.
To create a D60 chart, see the longitude of a planet in a sign, consider only the degree, multiply it by 2. Divide the resultant number by 12 and add 1 to the remainder. It will denote the sign where the planet will be placed in the D60 chart. The Lord of the resultant sign is the planet’s Sashtiamsa dispositor. Here is a table on Sashtiamsa, deities, and degrees,

Purpose of the Shastiamsa Chart

Sashtiamsa chart is the critical differentiator in the case of predictions for twins. The birth charts and other D charts are mostly similar between them due to the closely placed time of birth. However, they are two different people with different life paths. This is where the D60 chart comes into play. The average time taken for an ascendant to traverse a Sashtiamsa is only 48 seconds. Thus, the smallest measure of time taken between twin birth is utilized in this chart; so, two charts will show different ascendant and different planets alignment in Sashtiamsa.

D60 chart shows a very detailed picture of past life karma – Sanchita Karma. It can help us determine the time when karma comes into fruition. The Sashtiamsa chart can go deep into the very cause of a native’s re-birth reasons and lessons.

The karmic undercurrent of life situations and experiences associated with them are foreseen in this chart.

This chart is a microscopic version of the 12th house. This relates to the Supra-conscious mind of the native. This part of the mind holds higher significance in Self-identity, psycho-spiritual guidance, astral plane awareness, evolutionary memory.

Interpretation

In natal chart, Ascendant is at 17 º 41’ in Capricorn and Moon is at 20 º 36’ in Sagittarius.
Let’s create a D60 chart,
Ascendant degree- (17 º 41’) x 2 = 35 º 22’
Dividing 35 º by 12; reminder is 11, adding 1 to 11= 12, so we will count twelfth from Capricorn, which is Sagittarius.
For Moon, 20 º 36’ x 2 = 41 º 12’
After dividing 41 by 12, reminder is 5, adding 1 to 5= 6, so we will count sixth from Sagittarius, which is Taurus.

Common Inferences on D60

Karma that is destined to face during one’s lifetime and the reasons behind the karmic patterns is revealed in this chart. The actual strength of Planetary positions in the birth chart can be studied. For example, the planet in exaltation in the birth chart, but if located in inauspicious Sashtiamsa will bring bad effects in that direction of life and vice versa.

Good yogas in the D60 chart denote auspicious or good karma in a past life; bad yogas denote bad karma accumulated in a past life. This karma called Sanchita karma unfolds in this life.

If the lords of 3, 6, 8, 12 houses of the birth chart are exalted in D60, the native tends to waste the advantages of past life good karma.

The profession of a native can be predicted in the D60 chart based on the deity associated with the sashtiamsa.

When a benefic planet or lord of the benefic house falls in bad Sashtiamsa, the positive effect of that house is delayed or denied. Retrograde usually causes the delay, and the Period of delay is broken when retrograde benefic gains gain power over retrograde malefic.

When Venus, Jupiter, Mars, and Darakarka planet of the chart is free from any affliction, the native holds good karma from the past and enjoys happiness with fruitful events in this life.
