About Mangal Dosha
Mangal Dosha, also known as Manglik Dosh, Kuja Dosha (కుజ దోషం) in telugu, Bhauma Dosha or Chevvai/Sevvai Dosham, is one of the most powerful Doshas in Vedic Astrology. In India, this dosha is a deciding factor in marriages.
When planet Mars is positioned in the first, second, fourth, seventh, eighth or twelfth house in a natal chart or Kundli, it creates Mangal Dosha or Manglik dosha. The person with this Mangal Dosha in their horoscope is called a Manglik. Both men and women can have this manglik dosha.
Magnitude of Manglik dosha varies based on the house/sign it is placed in and the aspect it receives from other planets in the chart. Mangal Dosha is also calculated using Lagna chart, Moon chart and Venus chart. All these charts are analysed before determining if a person is Manglik. For instance, dosha is considered stronger when Mars is placed in the seventh house and conjoined with a malefic planet. In certain cases, when Mars is placed along with Saturn, or Rahu, or Ketu in the mangal dosha houses, then it is called double Manglik dosha or triple manglik dosha based on the number of malefic planets with Mars.
