Dasamsa Chart is one of the divisional charts among the 16 divisional charts. Dasa means ten, and Ama means division or fractional division in the ancient language Sanskrit.
The zodiac sign, which comprises 30 degrees, is equally divided into ten parts. Each equal divided part will be 3 degrees, and this is constructed as a dasamsha chart or D10 and interpreted along with the birth chart.
Dasamasa or D10 chart is also called as karmamsa or Swargamsa. Sage parasara says, this chart indicates “Maha Phal,” that is a great fruit.
This chart indicates the career, power, position, name and fame, social status, and success. The D10 chart is an extension of the 10th house of the birth chart.
For example, in your mobile to have a clear view of a picture, you will zoom it, the same way to get a clear picture of the career the tenth house of the birth chart is zoomed and to get a precise clue about the career progress of a person, his inclination towards job, his relationship with colleagues and higher officials, his office environment etc.

Each sign is divided into 10 parts called Dasamsa of 3 degrees each. Imagine an apple being cut into 10 equal pieces, similarly, a sign of 30degrees is cut into 10 Dasamsa parts. D10 chart is created based on the nature of the sign a planet is placed in the birth chart.
- If the planet is in odd signs, the counting begins from the same sign itself;
- If it is even signed, the counting begins from the 9th sign from the sign.
10 dikpalakas rule Dasamsas; for Odd signs- Lord Indra, Agni, Yama, Nirruthi, Varuna, Vayu, Kubera, Ishana, Brahma, and Ananta, this order is reversed in case of even signs.
